Ornamental Turning Scholarship

This Scholarship was originally for training at the Lynn HistoricalWoodworking Trust Inc. in conjunction with the Ashburton Woodturners Club. The Scholarship now provides travel expenses to and from Hamilton where Fred Irvine, one of New Zealand's leading ornamental woodturning craftsmen, provides a three day "hands-on" training course at a time agreeable to all parties. The Scholarship pays for the return travel from the recipient's home in New Zealand, to Hamilton, and members of the Waikato Guild of Woodworkers provide the accommodation and hospitality.

Applications are accepted only from NAW individual members, resident in New Zealand, who need to be experienced turners with confident tool skills, patience, and an eye to detail, and who arc looking for an extra dimension in turning.
